About Therapy

376289176Who am I and what have I become?

You’ve turned into someone you don’t recognize anymore, and this is causing problems in your personal relationships and other areas of life.

You don’t understand why you’re experiencing negative feelings and emotions and exhibiting behaviors that are becoming dysfunctional.

These things have been impacting how you show up on a daily basis, and you don’t know how to change it.

Your journey begins with a question.

We will work on identifying why you’re having these problems.

However, before we start sessions, I will ask you, “What do you want to look like at the end of your therapy journey?”

The question is to better understand your purpose and goals for therapy. It’s also a way to check in from time to time to ensure that you are where you need to be on your journey.

Starting your journey.

I provide a safe space for you to discuss, explore, and process your emotions and behaviors.

It’s your session to use as you like, but please don’t break-up the furniture. It’s fine to raise your voice, cry, laugh out loud – I’ll be right there with you.

You will learn skills and strategies to better cope and deal with the symptoms you are currently experiencing so that you will be empowered to eliminate them and take charge of your life.

Interesting Fact

From 2010 to 2013, I lived and worked in Liberia, West Africa, where I was the lead administrator for the government mental health hospital (Grant).

I also taught Social Work Research Methods at one of the universities, lectured for The Carter Center’s Mental Health Program in Liberia, and consulted with the Liberian Ministry of Health on Mental Health issues.

When I’m not Working

I used to be a long-distance runner, but now I enjoy walking four to six miles in the morning.

I try to lift a little in the gym once or twice a week and play pickleball three to four times a week.

Something I enjoy is a good morning coffee, but recently, I started to switch things up by adding tea every other day.
